It's Diya Time

Good Day Reader :)

As this season is festive season.. and one of my favourite festival Diwali is nearby. I feel very happy when we light different kind of candles and lamps everywhere and entire place will be light full.. colourful.. beautiful.. Oh... Yaaa.. Festive time is sweets time too ;)

For Diwali I thought to make Diya Rangoli this year with quilling. I also love to paint clay diyas.. so I thought I would use them in my Paper Rangoli.

Centre is a big circular rangoli completely made up with quilling and I have decorated it with pearls and other embellishments

Border is with quilled Diya patterns decorated with glitter.

Four corners are mounted with small quilled circular rangolis with painted clay lamp on them. Lamps are also decorated with kundan stones.

Different views....

Hope you have liked it.. Few painted diyas would be coming up in my next post.

Thanks for stopping by.. Happy Quilling and Painting :)

Good Day Reader :)

It was my friend's birthday and we decided for a surprise visit. This was decided previous day evening and I had very less time for making any gift.

I checked my inventory(:P) for avilable materials for making one quickest one. I had set of quilling stripes from Pink Family. I was also aware about the Ombre/Monichromatic from IQCG and 3d project challenge from BGC. So decided to do a 3d quilled doll and a message board. Here is the outcome.

Colour used is pink and shades of pink, including dolls hair.

1..2..3.. Quilling Recipe Challenge - Quilled Scene

Good Day Reader :)

Off late I'm not at all active over here, I am quite busy with my new assignment that I have opted for a Techie in me :). So not finding much time for blogging. But I am active with quilling. You will see those works in my future posts soon.

There is a quilling challenge hosted in India by Indian Quilling Challenge Group. I wanted to participate in that and at the same time I have one of my friend's house warming ceremony coming in. So I decided to do a quilled house scene.

I have used beehive quilling technique to do this. Here is the outcome.

There are two sets of 1 2 3s here. Let's list out them.

Quilling Elements

1 width of paper - I have used 5mm paper in entire project

2 quilling technique - Border is done with crimped paper strip and rest of the scene with bee hive quilling technique.

3 colours in main elements - all the main elements in the scene are done with only 3 colour

House : Black, Brick Red and Yellow

Husband : Brown, Black and Peach colour for Skin (Off course I have used black in hair and eyes)
Wife : Pink, Purple and Peach colour for Skin (Off course I have used black in hair and eyes)

Flowers : Pink, Purple and Green

Bird: Pink, Purple and Black.

Picture Elements

  • 1 House
  • 2 Characters - Man (Husband and Wife)  and a Bird
  • 3 Flowers

As this is a house warming ceremony a wish tag has been included. a Birdy  wishing Husband and Wife on their new house "Congratulations on your new nest".

It took around 8 hours for me to finish this completely. These days with too many things in life I am getting a bit of time over weekends only for quilling.
I hope you liked the scene. Please do comment.

Baby Boy - Quilled Exploding Box

Good Day Reader :)

I was meeting one of my best friend after a long time.. who is a "Mommy" of new born Baby Boy. She liked my quilled exploding box so I thought I will make an another attempt with this.

As it is a baby boy  I have chosen  blue and a white combination for the box. I made a white stork carrying a baby as we see in cartoons on the lid. Inner surfaces of the box are decorated with two little baby feet, a feeding bottle, a rattle and wishes for a new papa and mamma :)

I have decorated outside of the box with white flowers.. and Yaa!! She loved the box.
